June 21st, National Go Skateboarding day!
On June 21 skateboarders around the globe will celebrate the pure exhilaration, creativity, and spirit of one of the most influential activities in the world by blowing off all other obligations to go skateboarding. OK, most skateboarders do this every day of their lives, but this is just one more reason to blow off your television/computer/video games and go skateboarding!
Skateboarders everywhere will show their love and support for skateboarding by holding fundraisers, contests, protests and demos. They’ll skate across cities, gather in skate parks, stream into their local skate shop and some will even revel in the solitary act of skateboarding alone at their favorite spot, all bringing together the skateboarding community in the grind heard around the world. See for more details: http://www.goskateboardingday.org/

*June 24th, 3rd annual Longest Day of Trails. It's a race against yourself or your friends in that you're competing to ride/run/walk as many miles as you can. It's a fundraiser for local trail caretakers. For more details see their website (http://longestdayoftrailspt.wordpress.com).

July 29th- Ride For the Cookies
- PTBA's annual ride for everyone & home made cookies are waiting at the end! No strings attached, just a bike ride with cookies :)  ptbikes.org

Sept 16th: PTBA's Tour de Fermes and Quilbilly Hilly.

More information found on PTBA's website: ptbikes.org.  Here is the specific link to Tour de Fermes 2012. This is a great event that you will love to participate in, as it bikes around our beautiful peninsula.

Oct 6 and 7: PT Kinetic Sculpture Race.
A Kinetic Skulpture is a human powered, artistically enhanced vehicle that must go through sand (Kwick Sand), mud (The Dismal Bog), float on water, and transverse hilly, silly neighborhoods.  Some skulptures are engineering marvels while most are... a mixture of bicycle parts, styrofoam, duct tape, imagination and prayers. www.ptkineticrace.org _______________________________________________________________________

We have community bike rides, and this is the place to find out more information. Give us a call or stop in to ask for additional information. We love our Pacific Northwest weather, be ready for it, with all the needed gear to make your ride as much fun as possible.

~Monday night WOMENS' Rides!
We will alternate between mountain and road rides. I'll post which are road, otherwise assume that it is a trail ride. Deb, Sarah and Nicole will be alternating leading the pack. Our women's rides are for every type of rider... beginner, or intermediate, or advanced (if you'll wait around for me!)... It's all about being together and enjoying the ride. *Email the shop with "women's ride" in the subject to get a hold of me, and/or if you want to get added to the list of women riders!

~Tuesday night road rides:
Welcome back! Tuesday nights at 6pm. NO DROP ride means we all stay together. Route will be decided on at the start of each ride. Please bring your lights (as back up), warm/wind layers and food/water.

~Thursday night trail rides:
Starting at the shop at 6pm and riding all around town and anywhere in between, these rides will be no-drop, any (slow!) pace and any level. Don't forget your lights and proper gear. Email or call to let us know you're joining or just show up a few minutes early. They leave right on time.

~Family bike rides:
Our family rides offer a casual, family friendly, tag-along and bike trailers encouraged type of ride.   Family bike rides will be re-vamped for the 2012 season and will start in May.

~Quimper Trails Association, the local mountain bike group, has weekly rides. They have trail-building and maintenance work parties, too, if you're looking to get some manual labor done. Contact them for information on the upcoming ride.

~Port Townsend Bicycle Association, the local cycling association, offers weekly Sunday mornings ride which start from the local Food Co-op, starting at 9:30am. No ride leader, but based on the group and whoever shows up for the ride.

We gladly welcome visitors from Victoria, Vancouver, Whistler and other areas of Canada. Bike in and let us know what's going on.
Thanks, we look forward to seeing you out on the road and in the woods! Don't forget to lube your chain.
